Turn Around? by. Kayla

In the following annotation the author makes it known what type student they are before the story takes place. The excerpt about her always reading when she was younger shows that there is a sense of a child prodigy literacy narrative. The fact that she read so early on and she makes that clear is the reason why.

In the following excerpt, we find out what type of literacy narrative this essay is going to be. Words used like “ruined” and “striped” shows that this literacy narrative is a victim story. The antagonist Mr. Strict victimizes the author in their freshmen year English class.

Passion for Writing by. Sam

In the following excerpt, the author shifts away from the story and goes full into what the story is about. In this quote they tell the reader how their teacher made them into a better writer. This shows some evidence of child prodigy, a student excited to write.

In the following quote, the author is wrapping up their narrative. They are reflecting on their past experiences, with positivity. This shows the reader that this literacy narrative is an example of a success literacy narrative.

Expect the Unexpected by. Hannah

In the above intro the author right way tells the reader what the literacy narrative is going to be about. They are saying that they lost something that was taken from them. This is a textbook victim literacy narrative.

In the above excerpt, the author is concluding on their narrative. They turned the tragedy of losing their brother into an essay that they were proud of. Even though they didn’t get the best grade of their paper they were proud of what they accomplished. As a reader I think this  is not only a success literacy narrative but also a literacy winner narrative as well.

Recess and Distress by. Blake

In this above quote the author introduces their relationship with their teacher, Mrs. Johnson. In hindsight they appreciated what Mrs. Johnson did for them but at the time they thought she was bullying them. She had an antagonist role as a literary sponsor and the author was the victim.

In the above excerpt, the author is looking back on what Mrs. Johnson did for them. They now understand that she was just pushing them to do better because she saw greatness in them. This is a classic case of child prodigy. A student being treated differently and being pushed more because of their advanced capabilities.
